Together, they are fighting the spread of American goldenrod, giant hogweed and other neophytes on areas worthy of protection in the Albula Valley. During the work, you will have the opportunity to get to know the invasive species better and what the purpose of such missions is.

Neophytes are plant species that were introduced to a region, in this case the European continent, only after 1492. Some of these are invasive species that can spread rapidly, displace native vegetation and endanger our health. The control of invasive neophytes in landscapes worthy of protection is crucial for the preservation of biodiversity and the ecological balance.

In Parc Ela, the spread of invasive species is limited to the valley floor, where further spread has been prevented thanks to consistent control in recent years. In order to maintain this state of affairs, we supported the local actors and helped to control invasive species along the Landwasser and Albula rivers, very close to the Landwasser Viaduct.
