Description

The Piz Kesch is with 3417m above sea level the highest mountain in Parc Ela. Between the Porchabella glacier and the Kesch hut SAC lies a constantly changing glacier forefield. The Kesh-Ducan area is protected as a landscape of national importance.

The Porchabella glacier is located at the foot of Piz Kesch. The special name Prochabella, translated beautiful pig, comes from the legend that shepherds are guilty of blasphemy. As punishment, their beautiful Schweinealp was buried under a thick layer of ice.
