Description

5 tips on the Kesch Trek:

Grialetsch Hut SAC: The hut was adapted to current guest needs in 2021.

Scaletta Pass: The crossing connects the Landwasser Valley with the Engadin. Once a much frequented mule track led over the pass.

Piz Kesch and Porchabella Glacier: Proudly standing at 3,417 m, the highest mountain in the Albula Alps. Below lies the Porchabella Glacier.

Fuorcla Pischa: Highest point of the Kesch Trek at 2,864 m

Palpuogna Lake: One of the most beautiful mountain lakes in Switzerland

The hikes are manageable. Enjoy the varied landscape and marvel at the flora on both sides of the path. You can cool off in the many mountain lakes along the route. Culinary delights await you in the huts and a piece of fresh hut cake is definitely deserved upon arrival.

If you happen to be whistled at along the way, be pleased and look out for marmots. With a bit of luck, you can also admire the king of the Alps, the ibex.

The Kesch Trek starts at the Flüela Pass at the Chant-sura stop. The first stage leads to the Grialetsch Hut SAC. The hike is manageable and just right for beginners with about 2.5 hours of hiking time. After a strengthening breakfast, a beautiful day hike awaits you, pure hiking time about 5.5 hours, enjoy the wonderful mountain scenery along the way, take breaks, and enjoy the view from the Scaletta Pass. After the last ascent, you will be welcomed for the night at the Kesch Hut SAC. From the terrace and the guest room, you have an excellent mountain view of Piz Kesch and the Porchabella Glacier. Today's day hike with about 5.5 hours of hiking time is the most demanding. It starts with a descent to Alp digl Chant, continues through the Val Plazbi to Alp Plazbi. Here begins the ascent to the highlight of the Kesch Trek, the Fuorcla Pischa at 2867 m above sea level. From Fuorcla Pischa, the Es-cha Hut SAC with its magnificent panoramic view of the Bernina massif is not far. The last tour leads over the Albulapass past the Palpuogna Lake, one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in the Alps, to Preda. Pure hiking time about 4 hours. From Preda, you have a connection to public transport, and the RhB will comfortably take you to Bergün. Those who want can also walk this section from Preda to Bergün.
